How to Close an Account
Before closing your account with NSFCU, ensure the following steps are completed:
- Cancel all direct deposits, bill payments, or auto-debits.
- Verify that all checks have cleared your account (if applicable).
- Ensure there are no pending transactions.
Please note:
- A $25 fee will be charged if the account is closed within 90 days of opening.
- All accounts must be in good standing, and any loans must be paid in full.
Closure Options
You can close your account through one of the following methods:
- In Person at any of our branch locations: Provide a valid photo ID*.
- By Phone by calling 860.513.5000 (local) or 800.526.6933 (toll-free): Provide a valid photo ID*.
- Secure Email once logged into Online Banking select “Contact Us” then select “Message Center”: Provide a valid photo ID*.
- Regular Mail addressed to PO Box 66, Rocky Hill, CT, 06067: Send a signed letter requesting account closure, please include a copy of a valid photo ID*.
*Acceptable forms of photo identification include Driver license, Learner Permit, or Non-Driver Photo ID from a US state, jurisdiction or territory, Temporary Paper Credential (TPC) issued by the CT DMV only if accompanied by one of the following: a birth certificate, an expired US Driver License, an expired Non-Driver Photo ID, or an expired CT Learner Permit issued by the CT DMV, United States or Foreign issued Passport (with photograph), Pistol Permit with photograph issued by a US state, State or Federal employee ID with signature and photo, or United States Military Identification.
Business Account Closures
To close a business account, the member must visit a branch location with a valid photo ID.
Closing an Account for a Deceased Member
If you need to close an account for a deceased relative, please contact NSFCU at 860-513-5000. Provide the name of the deceased member to help determine the necessary documentation for closing the membership.
