Mission Launch

Like all of you, our Nutmeg State team has spent the last two years reflecting on important questions of who we are, what matters most to us, and where we are headed.

During our own self-discovery process we crafted a “values statement” expressing our shared beliefs and to serve as a framework for our decision making in a post-COVID world.

“We believe prosperity for all people is possible through meaningful social and economic relationships and ensuring inclusive and equitable access to resources”

And today we are proud to share our new mission statement cementing our path forward.

“Our mission is to create multigenerational prosperity throughout the Connecticut community through education, collaboration, and the support of local commerce”

“Multigenerational prosperity” is a thoughtful strategy developed by The Aspen Institute, an education and policy studies organization based in Washington DC. Aspen’s two-generational (2Gen) approach has also been adopted by the Connecticut General Assembly.

Two-generation approaches provide opportunities to meet the needs of vulnerable children and their parents together. In other words, our goal is to establish wealth in families that transcends from grandparents to grandchildren.

We are now working on creating big plans for our community. We will provide education and economic support while building the social capital and health and well-being of our members. Our goal is to create a legacy of economic security that passes from one generation to the next.

We here at Nutmeg State have a renewed sense of purpose and are laser focused on operationalizing our new mission to better serve our partners, colleagues, and our members. We are inspired, motivated, and determined to build thoughtful products and policies to build wealth in our communities.
