Nutmeg Welcomes Housatonic Teachers Financial Credit Union

On January 1, 2017, we officially merged with Housatonic Teachers Financial Credit Union. With this merger, we not only opened membership to parts of Fairfield County – Shelton, Stratford and Bridgeport, but we also added over $19.3 million in assets bringing our total assets to about $420 million. The merger added $6.1 million in capital to our reserves further strengthening our superior financial position. We added about 1,500 members to our membership bringing our total membership to just under 41,000.

I am excited to welcome Housatonic members to Nutmeg. Founded in 1935, Housatonic has served generations of educational professionals throughout Fairfield County. As members you can now take advantage of all of our great services. You can bank 24/7 from anywhere using our mobile app or e-Banking. With our mobile app, you can even deposit checks! We offer free checking, a low APR VISA credit card, great rates on savings and loans, and all the technology you need to bank without a branch.

Soon we will also open a branch in the new Orange Shop-Rite.  This new location will leverage technology as the driver of the banking experience, offering self-service options to how you perform your transactions. The Orange Branch will be the first of several locations that we will open in the New Haven area.
