Membership Information

Applications for Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union membership is generally open to anyone in the US who meet at least one of the criteria sets below.

1) If you live, work, worship, attend school or volunteer in any of the Connecticut areas:

  • Hartford County
  • Middlesex County
  • Tolland County
  • New Haven County
  • The Fairfield County towns of Bridgeport, Shelton, Stratford, Trumbull, Fairfield, Norwalk and Westport, CT

2) If you are a member of AAA Club Alliance

3) The Community Impact Fund Membership (No costs or obligations)

Either way, for those applying for Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union membership via CIF membership, you simply select “CIF Membership” as your member criteria, when applying via our digital application, in person in a branch, or via our contact center.

Those who become Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union members via The Community Impact Fund (CIF) criteria, simply acknowledge becoming a member of The Community Impact Fund (CIF) as the pre-requisite.

There are NO additional member fees or obligations with CIF, for those becoming new Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union and CIF members. CIF members, via NSFCU, will simply receive monthly financial wellness newsletters and will have the ability to unsubscribe at any time. New members will also receive a welcome letter outlining CIF member benefits and how to engage with CIF, if and when desired.

We are proud to work with The Community Impact Fund, which aligns with our own mission. The Community Impact Fund provides financial education resources to individuals and works with for-profit, nonprofit, and member organizations to create a dedicated fund that is then used as a provision for financial emergencies in the form of Impact Loans. 4) Membership is also open to:

  • Spouses of current members
  • Immediate family of current members
  • Employees of Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union

A minimum deposit of five dollars and a completed membership application are required to open a Share Savings Account. With this deposit you will become a member/owner of the credit union. You will retain your membership as long as you keep an open savings account with a five-dollar deposit.
