Making Our Mark as a Leading Technology Innovator

Today I am very excited to talk about Connecticut’s recent rise to #4 in Bloomberg’s most innovative U.S. economies list. This means many other boundary-pushing organizations like us have also been hard at work. As I’m sure you’ve heard me say in my blog many times before, Nutmeg is committed to providing an easy and convenient banking experience with innovative technology. I’d like to take a moment to tell you all about our own contributions to the state technology industry that you can take advantage of today.

We have been working hard to continue to enhance our electronic services and offer a seamless experience for everyone who banks with us. As the industry has changed in recent years, we knew that technology would be the next step to making our services even easier and more convenient. You may remember when we upgraded our e-Banking and Mobile App in 2016 to allow our members to do almost anything online from any electronic device. Last year we also developed our own custom branch self-service kiosks, which was a first for us and for local credit unions. The unique technology used by the branch kiosks has made the member experience easier than ever and was an innovative step for CT credit unions.

We have also applied our innovative technology to all of our business services. The same, easy technology you see on our self-service kiosks is available for large and small businesses to do their banking. One of our fastest and most popular business services is our all-online Commercial Loan application, which allows business owners to apply for loans easily and faster than any other local options. One of our greatest advancements was the introduction of our DMV Express services and technology. After beginning a partnership with the CT Department of Motor Vehicles, we worked tirelessly to produce an easy alternative for driver’s license renewals and replacements. With our unique technology, we simplified the DMV experience and shortened wait times to an average of only ten minutes! I am sure you know by now that many of our technology advancements have come from the hard work of DaLand Solutions, an experienced technology developer and consulting firm that we acquired during the summer of 2018. As Nutmeg’s subsidiary, DaLand continues to improve all of our electronic services and also works with other credit unions across the nation. I look forward to creating more innovative technology products with DaLand to continue to revolutionize the way people do their banking!

As always, we will continue to improve our technology to provide the best member experience possible and contribute to innovation in our state. Our vision for the future is to be even more aggressive in pursuing a wide range of technology initiatives. As we strive to become an even bigger influence in the financial services market, I am confident that we will continue to make a positive impact on Connecticut’s economy.
